Our Story

Sustainable Susi is a women-owned hair accessories label based in Germany. The founder of Susi decided to make the fashion world a little better with her own label after completing her bachelor's and master's degrees and gaining several years of professional experience in the international fashion industry. Our mission is to create everyday companions with the highest level of sustainability. As a brand, we are committed to constantly evolving and always offering our loyal customers the most sustainable and unique segment of hair accessories on the market.

How do we take responsibility?


1. LOCAL
It is important to us to support slow fashion and therefore we minimise the outsourcing of our production and support local manufacturers. We want to reduce our ecological footprint with our products. The majority of our products are made in Germany. This is not only good for the environment but also strengthens German manufacturers. In addition, we send your package with DHL GoGreen so it arrives climate-friendly and CO2-neutral.

2. RESOURCES

The sustainability of the products themselves is extremely important to us. From yarn to shipping cartons, we use organic materials that protect the environment. If you would like to learn more about this, read the next section about our individual products:

Hair Clips

Our hair clips are made of sustainable and biodegradable cellulose acetate which is composed of natural raw materials such as wood pulp and cotton.

Hair Ties

Our hair ties are created from either high quality GOTS certified cotton (Ease Collection) or unique vintage fabrics (Rebirth Collection). The sewing thread is made from organic cotton and the premium embroidery yarn is made from environmentally friendly Tencel™ Lyocell. The elastic we use is made from certified organic cotton and natural rubber.

Packaging

Our packaging is made of paper or cardboard that either bears the FSC seal or the Blue Angel or/and is made of grass or recycled paper or is recyclable. Our bubble bags are also not filled with plastic as usual. The padding protection comes from shredded recycled paper. The parcel tape and shipping labels we use are made of paper and natural rubber, without casein. Our packaging is plastic-free, silicone-free and can be disposed of in the waste paper cycle. Our supplied cloth bags are made of eco-friendly cotton.
