Sustainable Susi is a women-owned hair accessories label based in Germany. The founder established the brand after gaining years of professional experience in the international fashion industry, driven by the mission to make the fashion world more sustainable.

Our goal is to create everyday hair companions with the highest level of sustainability and to constantly evolve as a brand. We are committed to offering our loyal customers the most sustainable and unique segment of eco-friendly hair accessories on the market.

1. LOCAL & SLOW FASHION

We passionately support Slow Fashion by minimising the outsourcing of our production and supporting local German manufacturers. The majority of our products are made in Germany, which not only reduces our ecological footprint but also strengthens local production. Furthermore, we dispatch your package climate-friendly and CO2-neutral with DHL GoGreen.

2. RESOURCES & SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

The sustainability of the products themselves is our top priority. We use certified organic materials for all elements, from the yarn to the shipping cartons, ensuring they protect the environment.

Hair Clips: Biodegradable & Circular Design

Our Hair Clips are crafted from sustainable and biodegradable Cellulose Acetate. This material is composed of natural raw materials, primarily wood pulp and cotton. As a natural polymer, Cellulose Acetate is designed to be biodegradable, promoting material circularity at the end of its useful life.

Hair Ties / Scrunchies: Circular Materials & Certification

Our sustainable Hair Ties and Scrunchies are made from either high-quality GOTS-certified organic cotton (Ease Collection) or unique vintage and surplus fabrics (Rebirth Collection).

  • GOTS Certified Cotton: This material is highly valued for its recyclability within textile streams.
  • Vintage/Surplus Fabrics: The Rebirth Collection embodies maximum resource efficiency by giving pre-existing materials a second life (upcycling).

The sewing thread is made from organic cotton, and the premium embroidery yarn uses environmentally friendly Tencel™ Lyocell. Crucially, the elastic we use is made from certified organic cotton and natural rubber.

Plastic-Free Packaging: Designed for Recycling

Our commitment extends to our packaging, which is designed for optimal recyclability. Our paper or cardboard materials either bear the FSC seal or the Blue Angel and/or are made from grass or recycled paper, ensuring they are readily recyclable within the paper waste stream. Our bubble bags utilise shredded recycled paper for padding protection instead of plastic. Furthermore, the parcel tape and shipping labels are made of paper and natural rubber, without casein. All our packaging is plastic-free, silicone-free and fully disposable in the waste paper cycle. Supplied cloth bags are made of eco-friendly cotton.
